Among this year’s awarded projects were several practices represented on ArchiPro, with work spanning education, residential, multi-residential, commercial and sustainable architecture.
Woods Bagot received the Sydney Blythe Award for Educational Architecture for The Forest, the University of Tasmania’s Forestry Building, which was also awarded the Barry McNeill Award for Sustainable Architecture. The project reflects a wider shift in institutional architecture, where environmental performance and a strong sense of place are increasingly inseparable.

In residential architecture, Scale Architecture’s Spring Beach House received an Award in the Houses New category, along with a Commendation for Sustainable Architecture. Set within Tasmania’s coastal landscape, the project speaks to the enduring appeal of architecture that is both quietly resolved and closely attuned to its site.
Cumulus Studio was also recognised across two housing categories, receiving an Award for Balfour Terrace in Residential Architecture, Alterations and Additions, and an Award for Queens Walk Housing in Residential Architecture, Multiple Housing. Together, the projects reflect the practice’s considered approach to urban living, renewal and the evolving needs of Tasmanian communities.

In Commercial Architecture, Preston Lane received the Colin Philp Award for Black Swan, while Maguire and Devine Architects received a Sustainable Architecture Commendation for Mid Century River Home, further highlighting the breadth of work being produced by Tasmanian practices across adaptive reuse, material sensitivity and low-impact design.
The awards continue to reveal Tasmania as a place where architecture is deeply connected to landscape, history and restraint. For ArchiPro, it is especially meaningful to see a number of platform professionals recognised for projects that contribute to the broader national conversation around how we live, gather, learn and build with care.
