Door Stops Buying Guide
Door stops - which ones to use and where.
There are several factors in deciding which door stop you should use. The first is whether you require a wall mounted door stop, or a floor mount.
Wall mounted stops.
You would generally install these on the architrave if your door is opening toward a wall and is close enough to make (or almost make) contact. Being off the floor gives you a bonus of being easier to clean and less noticeable.

These have a rubber bumper to protect your door. Although it’s rare, you will sometimes see these installed on the door itself rather than the architrave. These can also be a good choice in a bathroom where it might be more practical than drilling through the floor tiles and risking a crack.
Floor mounted stops.
In situations where the wall is too far away, then you may need to opt for a floor mount door stop. E.g. our dome ones:

Another instance where a floor mounted stop may be preferable is in bathrooms where a hand towel rack behind the door may stick out too far for a wall mounted door stop, so a floor mounted dome may be more practical.
Magnetic door stops.
Magnetic door stops have the added advantage of being able to be installed on the floor or the wall, and can hold the door open. Here is the range:

These are useful on external doors where you may want to keep them open without the wind blowing them shut but don’t need a bulky door closer with a hold-open function either.
