This November, our photo in the spotlight is ‘Between Thaw and the Patagonian Forest’, taken by Guisel Soto Campos in Chile. The photo was one of the twelve finalists in our 2020 PEFC Photo Contest.
Guisel sent us a video, in which she tells us more about her photo and explains how the forest enchants and inspires her, but why she is also worried about it.
“It’s a great honour to be part of this exciting event. I know how hard Certfor/PEFC Chile has worked to spread the word when talking about sustainability to our country’s forestry,” she said.
“I feel enchanted by forests, but also worried about the way future generations are going to preserve and appreciate the world’s forests. As a teacher, I’m trying to develop a sense of caring. When it comes to nature, it’s a real challenge, but I know I can make it. And all of us, through photography.”
“Forests inspire me in so many ways. They have helped me to connect with mother nature since my very first track”, she continued.
“Through this photo, I remind myself, and also others, to care about glaciers, to care about our forests, and our flora and fauna. We need to educate ourselves just because nature matters.”
