Four on-trend ideas from EuroCucina 2024
European design has global influence. One of its biggest showcases is the EuroCucina show, which this year attracted over 361,000 visitors. The Blum team identified four trends that are sure to make their presence felt in coming years. Trend 1: Goodbye beige.
Variations on white and off-white will always have a place, but many of the designs showcased at EuroCucina 2024 made exciting use of a wider palette.
Terracotta, powder pink and ochre were among the stand-outs, often paired with dark furniture fittings such as carbon black LEGRABOX drawers and onyx black clip top BLUMOTION hinges.
Trend 2: Light and shade.
Elegant minimalism needn’t mean a glaringly bright and featureless surface. EuroCucina 2024 featured vertical wooden fronts that play with light and shadow and evoke a sense of liveliness, while dramatic lighting highlights the beauty of natural surfaces such as wood, and creates layers of depth.
Trend 3: Multifunctional spaces are in.
The award-winning REVEGO pocket systems from Blum featured prominently and received positive feedback. Designers are revelling in the ability to create sophisticated spaces that transform with pocket door systems.
There’s also a growing appreciation of the potential to add attractive storage solutions to spaces such as the bedroom and bathroom, with new takes on wall units featuring AVENTOS HKi and other AVENTOS lift systems.
Trend 4: Subtle ornamentation.
Wooden drawers and runners, such as the MOVENTO runner system, draw attention to the quality of workmanship for a sophisticated impression. Metallic elements such as brass add to the appeal, while patterned fabrics and avant garde objects evoke the past.
Overall, there’s a new appreciation of the beauty of a personalised solution that makes the most of today’s materials and hardware.
