Whether you spend a lot of time in your garage, or you have plans to renovate it, these modular tiles from Swisstrax are the flooring solution you didn’t know you needed.

The garage has long played host to many activities outside its traditional role. From band practice and woodworking projects to fitness routines and video games, the garage is not just a storage space for the car, garden tools and a workbench, but another functional room in the house. It seems fair, then, to give the garage a high-performance, durable floor that can withstand high traffic demands without, literally, cracking under pressure. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.

“I’ve seen too many three-month-old garage floors with surface and stress cracks that cause grief for all parties,” says Ron Campbell of Swisstrax. In the business of modular flooring tiles designed to protect and enhance garage and commercial floors, Campbell has encountered many garage floors.

“Garage carpet smells all year round; it lifts, can peel off the floor and become an unsightly, damp trip hazard that continually needs replacing. Without carpet, concrete floors are either painted with the paint eventually peeling off, or unpainted with those ugly oil and paint marks denoting previous cars and annoying paint spills.”

The solution, and the purpose of Ron’s business, is modular flooring tiles — namely, Swisstrax Ribtrax.

Swisstrax tiles provide a designated parking space for firetrucks in the station garage.

What are Swisstrax tiles?

Swisstrax is a versatile and adaptive flooring system designed for the ‘Home Living Garage’. It requires no preparation, no permanent fixing, and can be removed and relocated in the time taken to install the floor originally. It’s also a great commercial floor for workshops, warehousing, and even showroom applications. The options are endless,” Ron explains.

Made from a polypropylene-based material (that includes a percentage of recycled raw materials in the darker colours), Swisstrax tiles are resistant to UV, acids, solvents, and common household corrosive chemicals, with a cushioned composition for a ‘soft walk’ effect. They are created using a four-point injection moulding technique to achieve a 19mm thick, 400 x 400 tile.

“The placement of Swisstrax tiles is easy and straightforward. It’s simplicity in practice, with each tile connecting neatly into the next, akin to Lego for adults.”

Alongside the Ribtrax modular tile solution, Swisstrax also offers a range of vinyl insert options designed to create a faux timber floor, ideal for laundry areas or pop-up event floors. Swisstrax can be placed over uneven surfaces, and will support a vehicle on grass during events and display functions. Essentially, if you want a floor, Swisstrax can create one.

Swisstrax tiles are ideal for workspaces, with a non-slip surface and a rollover resistance strength that absorbs 27 tonnes per square inch compressive force.

Why choose Swisstrax tiles?

With a lifetime residential use guarantee and a 15-year guarantee in commercial applications, Ron says a big benefit of Swisstrax tiles is their longevity.

“The four-point injection moulding process is unique and patented, enabling the tile to be constructed in a thicker profile than any other similar tile currently on the market. That’s 19mm versus 12mm for almost any of the competition. Swisstrax Ribtrax has a rollover resistance strength that absorbs 27 tonnes per square inch compressive force, without any breakage or crushing. The composition of Swisstrax tiles makes them non-slip when wet, which is another important factor.”

Swisstrax floors are transportable, easily lifted and relocated to their new site, with additional tiles for a bigger area just a phone call away.

“One of the best features is that, if you have a Swisstrax Ribtrax floor, you will never need to dust, vacuum, or sweep your garage floor again. Any dirt, dust, or loose material will simply disappear through the cracks rather than gather on the tile surface. To remove from under the tiles, open your garage door and use your leaf blower to blow it away. If you do end up with grease and oil marks, as is common in commercial environments, you can just wipe it away with a solvent and cloth and your tiles will be as good as new,” Ron says.

The Swisstrax Ribtrax range is available in 24 different colours, offering the flexibility to create a palette that is as simple or complex as you like. Ron’s team has done everything from simple block colour patterns and designs with text and logos to a bespoke four-colour Burberry tartan floor.

With proven durability, reliability, and the tile's high-performance design, it’s easy to see why Ron’s clients are satisfied with their Swisstrax. If you’re looking for a flooring solution for your garage, warehouse, or commercial space, get in touch with Swisstrax.
