Why we don’t offer free consultations…
Designing a space is a complex process that takes time and lots of skill. It's not something we can do quickly or without thought. We need to understand our client’s needs and wants, as well as the limitations of the space, in order to come up with a plan that will work for the individual client. Free consultations wouldn't be able to provide that level of service. There are a few reasons for this, but the main one is that we value our time and expertise highly. We believe that by charging for our services, we're able to provide our clients with the highest quality work possible. Not only that, but by working with us, clients can benefit from our years of experience in the industry.
At Studio Luxicon, we offer a maximum 2 hr working consultation. During that session, we consider existing architecture, the location of the home and the needs of the client. We may review the floor plan and make suggestions as to how it may be improved. We may discuss if new furniture or window coverings need to be purchased or if it is possible to reuse existing furniture and accessories. Our discussions are directed by the client's needs. We can help formulate a realistic budget and walk the client through the design-build process. We answer any client questions. Some designers will offer a free consultation. However, we don’t believe that this is in the client’s best interests. As they are not being paid for their expertise, they are not likely to give any worthy ideas that will move the project forward. The designer is there to interview the client and get a feel for the project.
