Thoughts from the artist: there is no horizon-line in Wellington: in its place is a verticality. The hills are carved with hairpin turns and stacks of houses. In this painting layers of images have been coalesced into a single plane.
Sam Walker holds a MFA from Ilam. Her artistic sentiments are a mix of semi-rural experience and formative years skirting around a broken city centre of Christchurch's green belt. Both the landscape and this ‘brokenness’ is translated into literal subjects in her work.
