The hard resin surface is impervious to water. Being completely waterproof and designed to hold water, and you can clean them and treat them just like any porcelain basin. They can withstand damp and humid environments and will not wear under normal bathroom basin use. Like any perfect surface product, do not use acidic, abrasive or harsh chemical cleansers as they may dull, imperfect or affect the integrity of the finish.

A solid natural stone basin is porous and is supplied with a penetrative stone sealant that provides a high level of protection against water and other liquids.
As with any natural stone product, this penetrative sealant should be reapplied at least every 12 months to maintain this level of protection against liquids and mould - such sealants are generally inexpensive and easy to apply (rub on or spray on).
