Calcutta

Calcutta is a re-introduction on a grander scale of Calcutta, originally designed in 1967 by Hall Bradley. Inspired by the design themes of Chippendale furniture, Calcutta features cast bamboo patterns on the seat and back, while tapered legs and a lower x-stretcher continue the exotic bamboo pattern. Appropriate for indoor formal dining as well as outdoor use, the Calcutta collection includes dining and deep seating pieces, as well as cast top tables in various sizes.

About John Caldwell

Over the course of 3 decades with Brown Jordan the designer John Caldwell has created iconic, award-winning collections including Fremont, Flight Sling, Parkway, Pasadena, and his earliest success, Mai Tai. At age 17, the budding designer made a chair using pipe cleaners and presented it in a cardboard box to company founder Robert Brown who, impressed by Caldwell’s natural talent and abundant moxie, hired him on the spot. Caldwell’s sinuous Mai Tai design was one of the first furniture lines to incorporate extruded aluminum and vinyl lacing and it helped define Brown Jordan as an innovative design force during the height of the mid-century modern movement.
