By Mario Bellini, 2020 Re-Edition
Table lamp producing diffused light
In 1969, Italian architect Mario Bellini debuted Chiara, originally a flat-packable floor lamp for Flos that wore a shiny cloak of stainless steel. Fifty years after its introduction, Flos is reissuing the icon in a range of sizes and finishes.
This self-supporting, origami-like structure hides a lighting source that is placed on the floor. The light is reflected and diffused by a large ‘hat’, which resembles a nun’s wimple and veil. Even switched off, Chiara’s strong and charismatic identity makes a striking impression. The 2020 re-edition uses cutting-edge technology and comprises two models: the classic floor lamp in stainless steel and a new smaller table model in a variety of finishes–aluminium with anthracite edge; dark grey with an olive green edge; pink gold with oxide red edge.
