Kiran McKinnon is an abstract painter who lives and works in Tāmaki Makaurau. She studied in London, UK and Auckland, NZ, gaining an MFA (1st class hons) from the Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland.

Her work engages with experience and memory, particularly of the sensations of the natural world.

Her unique processes of painting in acrylic on raw canvas involves spray, wash, wet on wet brushwork, and large quantities of water. The painting process weathers the canvas, mimicking in many ways the ephemeral processes the paintings invoke. Recent works have extended her use of water to include painting with sea water and rain water collected around Aotearoa.

Thought from the artist:Water and weather are often at the centre of the places and experiences in the world that capture my attention, and thus find their way into my work. Rivers, lakes, the sea, rain, clouds, mist, all find reference in my work, and their echo in the methods I use to paint; misting, spraying and washing of water and paint across the canvas

Artfull.co.nz is the premier online-first curated platform to discover and buy original works directly from emerging and established artists and makers across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Founded in 2022 by Jessica Agoston Cleary, an experienced curator, writer and public art manager, and John Barnett luminary film producer, business entrepreneur and passionate art collector, Artfull bridges the gap between the artist and the collector through the power of technology.

Artfull's ethos and mission is present the depth and breadth of incredible visual art by artists you know, and introduce you to many you don't. In bringing art on-line, Artfull seeks to demystify art and support collectors to build collections that reflect who they are.

Our services extend art consulting within both residential and commercial contexts, full collection curating and acquisition, facilitation of artist studio visits, and online 'art collecting 101' sessions either one-on-one or in groups.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
