ArchiPro has curated a wide selection of fabrics, sourced from trusted suppliers in Australia, for customisable drapes. Available in a range of colourways-from neutral shades to earthy, spicy hues-many of these fabrics can be used not only for drapery but also for upholstery and accessories, making it that much easier to do things like matching the fabrics across cushions and curtains. The drapery collection is an important part of a wider range of fabrics and upholstery available on ArchiPro.
Pinch pleat
The fabric is gathered into pleats of two or three folds that are pinched together to create a pleat roughly 5cm from the top of the fabric panel.
Inverted pleat
This drapery header is similar to the pinch pleat except that the pleat is pinched together at the top of the fabric panel.
Goblet pleat
The most formal of the header styles, the goblet pleat - which resembles a wine glass - gives extra body to the drapery panel. The shape of the goblet pleat is maintained with stiff interlining.
Box pleat
A more modern interpretation, this flat, boxy pleat is popular with contemporary or minimalist design styles in Australia.
The advantages of high quality drapery
High quality drapery falls beautifully and, if chosen correctly, enhances the visual appeal of any window or door. With ArchiPro’s collection of gorgeous fabrics from the most reputable suppliers in Australia, it’s hard to make the wrong choice. In addition to looking great, high quality drapery also fulfils the function of blocking out light, adding privacy or providing insulation. High quality options also tend to last longer, using premium materials that retain their original look and feel.
How to choose drapery that’s right for you
When it comes to selecting drapery in Australia, it’s important to consider not only aesthetic appeal, but also functionality. Do you want your drapes to block out light or provide an extra layer of insulation? Heavy, durable polyester weaves are a great choice in this respect. If you’re looking for something a little less formal you could otherwise opt for breezy sheer drapery or classic linen drapery. It’s about understanding your needs and matching them to the strengths of the options available to you.
