Set discretely in a leafy Remuera street, behind stone walls with history binding them together; this classic bungalow has undergone considered renovation. The challenge was to create the symmetrical look the client desired, in the asymmetrical space available. The space had to accommodate a kitchen, scullery and compact home office for day to day household administration.
The oak and marble island became the anchor point, while the butterfly-matched marble splashback punctuates the point of symmetry. The scullery is tucked away out of the line of sight so as not to upset the sense of symmetry while the home office is hidden behind the lacquered doors across the hallway, to the right of the main kitchen.
The result delivers balance to both architecture and lifestyle – harmony.
