Airways, Auckland Airport banner

The Airways building is the Air Traffic Control Building for the Airways Corporation. Auckland International Airport Limited (AIAL) engaged RTA Studio to design this facility for their tenant. The building is located within the AIAL Quad Precinct, the commercial center of Auckland Airport.

The concept establishes a strong link between the building form and aviation, and function of a high-security facility within an urban precinct. This was achieved by utilising a section of an aircraft ‘wing’, hovering over contrasting grounded mass below. Polished, reflective metal cladding is a gesture to vintage stainless steel aircraft.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent.
