Existing healthcare services needed to be maintained as this new hospital in Kaikoura took the place of its predecessor on the same site.

The new building combined all hospital, medical centre and rest home functions on a common floor level.

Along with providing panoramic views of the iconic bay and mountain landscape the building was designed in form and material to be sympathetic with its residential neighbours.
