"Sited at the beachfront in the context of modern baches, this house is a series of simple forms built around a sheltered west facing courtyard. Views to the ocean and morning sun are maximised by a well thought use of corner window seats and sliding doors. The living space opens to a sheltered outdoor living room perfectly suited to the afternoon sun. The house forms are robust, materials textured and spaces light-filled, giving this house its straightforward appeal for both the owners and visitors." – NZIA Awards Jury Citation
