The brief was to create a contemporary house on a prominent Remuera site. The design approach used the existing house footprint and extended around mature landscaped gardens and pool. The main level, includes the living, entry, bedrooms and garaging. From this level, rooms open through to generous decking for outdoor entertaining.
A balance of solid off the form concrete walls and glazing provide light filled comfortable spaces, whilst maximising the distant valley views. Slatted skylights in a black hipped metal roof spill natural light through bespoke ceiling screens into the entry and living spaces. The lower house level offers relaxed pool side living and entertainment. The house achieves a well-proportioned exterior aesthetic with modern interior spaces that perform for family living.
