Design + Brief

Situated in the coastal suburb of Fitzroy, our clients Leonard and Sally took on the task to design their own home. Wanting to create a house that would be cool in summer/warm in winter, Leonard and Sally cleverly incorporated energy-efficient + solar passive guidelines into their design, achieving year-round comfort and energy conservation. Two storied and rectangular in shape the house has a low angled mono-pitched roof. Buttress walls to the front façade accentuate the thickness of the mass walls; which also support the cantilevered roof overhang. Together all of these well thought out architectural features execute a clean, simple and streamlined appearance whilst also providing shade and shelter in the necessary places. 

Leonard and Sally have created a modern, well laid out, apartment-style living for themselves with a generous self-contained guest apartment on the ground level. Sleek and stunning; their home has come together beautifully.
