St Johns Full Renovation banner

We worked on the full house for this renovation. Our main focus was the kitchen/ living/ dining space and the three bathrooms, with finishing touches to the rest of the house.

The kitchen space was an angular room with two structural pillars right through the middle of the original kitchen. We worked with heights of cabinetry to help hide one of these and looked at the other as a feature.  We decided to play on the angles of the room and designed an angled, triangular shaped benchtop to follow the lines of the room which created an expansive island. We also included a drop down attached dining table for the family. As the family had items they wanted to display we designed a open shelving unit to one end of the island with led strip lighting to highlight the detail. The bar area with built in beer tap, wine  and mirrored splashback is a feature in this space and adds a touch of glam. In regards to the colour palette, as the space was so large it could cope with a deeper toned colour palette. We specified a dark charcoal soft touch acrylic with a lighter concrete look engineered stone benchtop. With accents of dark timber and black in the open shelving, dining table, pillar, rangehood surround, pendant light and handles.

Our clients two young sons are to enjoy the new bathroom with the feature green tiles we have designed, we have introduced a pop of colour with these green tiles, keeping the rest of the tiling simple to compliment the green. A dark timber vanity cabinetry which adds some contrast to the space. Changing what was a small corner shower to a big frameless glass shower with swing door the full width of the room. To help open up the space we also changed the swing door which was placed in the middle of the room to a cavity slider, this has made a world of difference.

The original master ensuite was dark and dated, it had a large angled shower which was a waste of the space. The clients were willing to forgo the double vanity in order to include a beautiful big back to wall bath which they love.
We have used dark timber vanity cabinetry complimented by the concrete look Caesarstone vanity top. We have created a theme of geometrics with the dark charcoal feature wall tile, sphere pendant light cluster and asymmetric and off set vessel basin. We wanted to create some drama and luxury within this space being a master ensuite and the combination of style, colours and texture have accomplished this.

The third bathroom downstairs is the main toilet that would be used by guests. To create a statement we introduced a feature wallpaper which sat well with the floor and wall tiles. We specified an amazing led lit round mirror which transforms this space and adds a touch of luxury.

Our clients said "We worked with Nicola to undertake a full renovation of our home, including all bathrooms, kitchen, flooring and internal colours. Nicola was professional, provided great options after listening to our tastes and preference and also was a perfectionist when it came time to implement the project. We relied a lot of her suggestions for making the house interesting and pushing outside our comfort zone. Nicola was always prompt with her communication and always on hand when I needed even the smallest piece of advice when it came down to the final implementation of her design. We also worked with tradespeople who were recommended by Nicola who were also fastidious and professional. All went to plan and when we had any little glitches (as you will always expect with any project of this size) they were fast to resolve and progress.  I would not hesitate to recommend Nicola and Katherine and would happily work with NM Design again in the future."

Nicola Manning Design is an experienced award winning interior design practice offering all a full range of interior design services, from new builds, renovations, apartments, small commercial projects and sourcing beautiful interior products.

We take a "no surprises" approach to our project partnership, with clear communication and a proven design process, focusing on three foundation pillars; the design, the budget and the timeline. We feel so grateful to work with a range of wonderful clients on their homes, apartments, beach houses and commercial properties.

After nearly twenty years in the interior design business, we know great design can not only lift the value of your home, but also enhance the quality and enjoyment of your life. Many people find it difficult to verbalise or explain exactly what they are visualising. Our clients really appreciate that we can take their ideas and help them bring them to fruition.

“I believe your home is not just a financial asset, it should also be your haven. Whether you're building, renovating, downsizing or moving into a different size or style of property, we will help you create beautiful and functional spaces that feel like home”.

We Will:

  • Listen to you and understand what you are wanting to achieve and helping you make it a reality.
  • Present you with a couple of options for you to choose from, rather than having to face the overwhelm of all the choices available on the market.
  • Source products for you that you may not have even realised was available or would be suitable.
  • Be available to answer questions that you or your builder or other tradespeople will have, in a very timely way.
  • Be fully committed to your project and to delivering you the best interior design solutions.
