Here’s a look inside a recent project. Fisher & Paykel’s new Auckland Experience Centre is the result of a design collaboration between Fisher & Paykel, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, Alt Group and Knight Associates. If you’re lucky enough to visit – and we recommend you do! – you’ll find an incredible sequence of sculptural elements and natural materials representing Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei ancestral narratives, as well as luxury kitchens designed with Arclinea, Boffi and Henrybuilt. We’re proud to have contributed our stunning bluestone to this tactile and inspiring representation of Designed in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The onboarding area of the Auckland Experience Centre, a place for manaakitanga and welcome. It is defined by a adze-finished timber plinth that has been crafted from 45,000-year-old swamp kauri. The plinth presents a section of bluesone – a ‘hot rock’, containing an induction element – which is used to brew kawakawa tea, a native plant with healing properties, to share with guests.
