Revitalization of the University of Auckland Atrium and Quad Canopy with innovative lighting solutions to enhance ambiance and functionality.
Deco Light® was engaged (via Beca) to brighten up a slightly tired area. A complete refurbishment was going to be costly, so UoA wanted to look at lighting options. In consultation with Beca, we decided to light the Atrium with a fairy and festoon light overhead. The overhead was positioned close to the gabled glass ceiling to take advantage of the reflections off the glass. The Quad canopy area was enhanced with LED vintage-look festoons lights, following the canopy profile to enhance reflections off the white canopy.
The result is a bright, eye-catching area that draws people in. The existing structure and architecture has been enhanced by the lighting overheads which provide an impressive level of lighting to the dining space.
These overheads can be designed to suit any space and budget. The density of lighting can be varied and the lighting level can be controlled with Deco Light Spira to automatically change as the ambient light levels change. For example, on a bright sunny day the overheads will be off. On a dull, overcast day, the overheads can turn on and adjust to suit the lighting level required.
