Waterloo Quadrant Apartment Conversion

Our client has had his barrister chambers in a central CBD building for over twenty years.  As he was approaching retirement, he and his wife decided to convert the “office space” into an inner-city apartment. The overall brief for the apartment was to create a “New York loft” feel, with an industrial edge.

The apartment consists of two bedrooms, a study/sitting room, 2.5 bathrooms, a TV Room with a fireplace and a living/dining room. The laundry is contained in a purpose designed cupboard in the hallway. We specified and designed kitchen, bathroom, laundry and entertainment unit cabinetry; specified flooring, tiles, wall coverings, paints and furnishings.

The original steel window joinery throughout the apartment was an inspiration for the use of a predominantly black colour palette in the kitchen and black hardware and joinery running throughout the apartment.

The flooring throughout the majority of the apartment is a light oak, laid in a herringbone pattern, with charcoal coloured carpet in the bedrooms, study and TV room.  The herringbone oak floor floors contrasts beautifully with the dark palette and mirrors the zigzag shape of the hallway moving through the length of the apartment.

For the Master Ensuite Bathroom we used marble look porcelain tiles on the floor and two of the walls. The remaining two walls are painted Dulux Vanilla Quake half. The large shower has a LED lit rain shower head, a long tiled niche for shower essentials, a shower slide and a tile insert channel drain. The black metal rimmed mirror complements the steel window joinery. The timber of the vanity contrasts and provides warmth. Push to open drawers provide great storage.

The final result is a modern, luxurious ensuite in this converted apartment.

About the
Professional

Nicola Manning Design is an experienced award winning interior design practice offering all a full range of interior design services, from new builds, renovations, apartments, small commercial projects and sourcing beautiful interior products.

We take a "no surprises" approach to our project partnership, with clear communication and a proven design process, focusing on three foundation pillars; the design, the budget and the timeline. We feel so grateful to work with a range of wonderful clients on their homes, apartments, beach houses and commercial properties.

After nearly twenty years in the interior design business, we know great design can not only lift the value of your home, but also enhance the quality and enjoyment of your life. Many people find it difficult to verbalise or explain exactly what they are visualising. Our clients really appreciate that we can take their ideas and help them bring them to fruition.

“I believe your home is not just a financial asset, it should also be your haven. Whether you're building, renovating, downsizing or moving into a different size or style of property, we will help you create beautiful and functional spaces that feel like home”.

We Will:

  • Listen to you and understand what you are wanting to achieve and helping you make it a reality.
  • Present you with a couple of options for you to choose from, rather than having to face the overwhelm of all the choices available on the market.
  • Source products for you that you may not have even realised was available or would be suitable.
  • Be available to answer questions that you or your builder or other tradespeople will have, in a very timely way.
  • Be fully committed to your project and to delivering you the best interior design solutions.
