Adding Character and Warmth to Interiors with Plywood Wall Panels

Here are some examples of how you can style a space using plywood wall panels.

Vertical plywood panelling is the easiest way to add character and warmth to a space. It can instantly transform the look of your bland walls into surfaces with subtle yet stunning texture. For instance, you can use wide panel planks to create accent walls in modern kitchens and dining rooms. By leaving a centre wall white and without the wooden panels, you can provide a visual break that will make the space feel clean and modern and not lean towards a rustic or in the woods style.

If the wide plank version doesn’t fit the design you’re going for, you can still achieve the same textured and warm effect with simple vertical sidings that have standard widths such as 8 x 4 or 9 x 6.

Similar to vertical panelling, horizontal wall panelling is a wonderful option to add some personality and aesthetic value to a space. Horizontal panelling works especially well in narrower and smaller areas where you want to make the space appear larger than its actual size. The horizontal stripes will visually elongate the area.

If you aren't ready to commit to designing ceiling-to-floor walls full of wood, then wainscoting is for you. The wainscoting style is a decorative wall accent where chair-rail level wooden wall panels are installed to make a room appear and feel warmer. Many homeowners and interior designers love playing around with this style for its ability to add new dimensions to home decor. Traditional wainscot designs in dark or white shades add a sophisticated trim to studies, living rooms and dining rooms.

For instance, if you want to achieve a rustic, shabby chic look in a kitchen or bathroom, you can go for beadboard wainscoting. It's made from a series of vertical plywood planks that are separated by 'beads,' or half-rounded vertical grooves. Another wainscot style that you can go for is shiplap, which uses a horizontal pattern of interlocking plywood boards.

Before transforming rooms into stylish spaces filled with warmth and character, you need high quality plywood.
