A popular restaurant in Burwood for many years, George’s Cafe is opening a new venue in the heart of Greenacre at 25 Roberts Road, built by SHEETH. Engaging a range of Canterbury Bankstown tradies, including NVE Electrical, Farran-Heit Air Conditioning, MA Paragon, TH Carpentry and SBK Plumbing, George’s Cafe owners expect the building and fit-out completion will be in January.
Family business owners Abdul, Billy and John Sayed said Greenacre had a special place in their hearts. “We grew up in the area 30 years ago and it’s been a dream to come back and open a restaurant here,” they said. “Greenacre is a culturally diverse area and a great place for family and community to meet.“It’s a central area and easily accessible thanks to the major roads connecting to Roberts Road. “The area has also seen massive growth in the last 10 years thanks to the work the council has done to roads and infrastructure.”
The original building was a factory that’s been around for decades but instead of erasing the history, the paint was stripped down exposing the old bricks creating a chic, modern vibe in an industrial setting. “It will be a beautiful harmony of old and new and the perfect environment for families, friends and couples to enjoy what a restaurant experience should be about,” the family added.
“Builder SHEETH is doing an amazing job transforming our ideas and designs to reality.” SHEETH managing director Hussein Sheeth said: “George’s Café has given us the opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities in bringing together two challenging and demanding sectors of construction – industrial and hospitality. “This project involves the refurbishment of a dated industrial warehouse combined with detailed craftsmanship required for a high-end hospitality fitout.”
