When creating the perfect space, we often think about the bigger picture of the design process – what is the room's purpose? What should the colour palette be? What materials should we use? So it's any wonder that door hardware is a minutiae detail that's easily forgotten, despite it being able to elevate a space instantly.
"Manovella" is the Italian term for "crank" – a timeless door handle reminiscent of traditional European style, and the business offers architecturally inspired cabinet and door handles. With co-founders Trevor Layton and Ryan Daly having 30 years of industry experience, they've set out to bring the "holy trinity" of hardware to Australians without lengthy delays.

Having worked together at a door hardware distributor, Trevor and Ryan witnessed the challenges of long supply chains. Trevor says the business would "source [products] from the wholesalers and then [sell] to retail customers".
"There was a rather large gap in the market for door hardware that both looks and feels great and at a fair price. We wanted to build a company that keeps all its stock here in Australia to prevent any lengthy delays in shipping," he explains.
"Ryan and I then had the idea of us doing both. We could import the products and be the brand but also with our customer service experience, go directly to the consumer and sell that product. That way, customers would get it all at a better price."
Since its humble beginnings, Manovella has grown to ship across Australia and New Zealand. With a warehouse in Melbourne, all hardware is shipped within two business days, ensuring speedy delivery.
The business offers a plethora of finishes to help customers find the right style for their homes. There are five finishes in their cabinet range: brushed brass, matte black, aged brass, brushed nickel and white. Meanwhile, there are three finishes in their door range: matte black, brushed nickel and satin brass.
At the heart of it all, Trevor and Ryan operate the business around four fundamental values:
