Making clients feel at home with stylish acoustic treatment An acoustic panel that’s both decorative and functional

For the acoustic treatment in their new Whangarei office and upcoming showhome, Latitude Homes Northland franchisee Haimona Matthews was looking for an acoustic feature panel and discovered Eagle Republic’s Acoustic Panel.

‘I met Haimona at an industry conference,’ says Jacqueline Goldsbury, Key Account Manager at Masons. ‘We got talking about his upcoming office fit-out and realised our new range of Acoustic Panels in oak veneer might be ideal for his project. He wanted to bring warmth and character into the space, while also creating a comfortable acoustic environment for staff and customers.’

‘We had previously used a panel that we bought retail through a merchant,’ says franchise owner Haimona Matthews, ‘but when I received samples directly from Eagle Republic, the product looked really good – it had an architectural style, so I decided to give it a try.’

Eagle Republic offers a range of decorative and functional timber-veneered panels, each designed to enhance interior spaces. For Latitude Homes, the Acoustic Panel’s combination of sound absorption and visual appeal made it an excellent choice both for their office and for an upcoming show home.

‘Haimona knew exactly what he wanted to achieve in the office,’ says Jacqueline. ‘He needed a feature wall to elevate the interior design specs, with the Latitude Homes logo set on top. We helped him choose a timber colour best suited the brand’s backdrop.’

Creating a warm, inviting showroom

As residential builders, Latitude Homes understands the importance of using architectural products and materials, and that their office/showroom needs to reflect these values to clients.

‘When people come here to discuss Latitude building their new home, we want them to feel comfortable and see that we take pride in everything we do,’ says Haimona. ‘We want our office and showhomes to be warm and inviting, and the Eagle Republic panels in the oak veneer really help achieve that.’

The Acoustic Panels use a grooved MDF board as a base for the oak veneer, creating a surface designed to break up sound waves. For additional acoustic damping, the reverse is covered with a Class B black felt, which has a weighted sound absorption coefficient of 0.80(H).

Installed on two walls of the reception area, the panels effectively reduce the reverberation and echo caused by people moving through reception, while creating a stylish visual contrast. ‘The Acoustic Panel looks so good,’ notes Haimona, ‘that we've reserved space for it as a wall lining in the showhome we’re currently building.’

Simple installation that looks great in any home

One of the key benefits of the Eagle Republic Acoustic Panel is its ease of installation. It can be used on internal walls, ceilings and cabinetry, and the precise spacing of the slats ensures seamless integration into any space.

‘The panels went up really easily,’ says Haimona. ‘Even though I’m a builder by trade, the installation is simple enough that any DIY enthusiast could put them up in their home and get the same result.’

Available in three colours, the 21mm thick, 2400 x 600mm panels come in two to a box and can be purchased directly, allowing anyone to add elegance and sound reduction to their home. And for Haimona Matthews, they’ve already become a go-to product.

‘It is actually a much nicer and far superior product compared to others we’ve used in the past. We really like the laminate finish, and even more, the felt-like softness of the panel backing makes it much easier to work with. I have no doubt they’ll be a feature of the houses we build in the future.’
