Iconic cooker brand launches daring design for a new generation of connoisseurs

The recent launch event, held at the vibrant Lona Misa in Melbourne’s South Yarra, perfectly embodied the spirit of this bold new direction, blending rich tradition with contemporary flair in an unforgettable evening.

This month, ArchiPro enjoyed a night in the vibrant streets of Melbourne’s South Yarra at a table surrounded by rebellious renaissance décor and a speciality-selected menu from Chef Ian Curley at renowned restaurant Lona Misa. Designed by award-winning architecture and design studio Luchetti Krelle, this lively restaurant hosted an event by AGA Australia to launch a daring, stylistic first for the century-old brand.

When it comes to kitchen appliances, few brands have managed to survive the test of time (and innovation) required to stay relevant in the heart of our homes. AGA, a name synonymous with quality and timeless elegance, has redefined the standards of luxury cooking with its latest product design to land on Australia’s shores.

Renowned for its iconic freestanding cast-iron cookers, the launch of the striking AGA ERA is a bold first for the brand. “The AGA ERA was designed to captivate a new, demographic to the brand’s high standards of sustainability and luxury cooking,” says Simone Blamey, Director of AGA Australia.

Award-winning design

The ERA farewell’s the brand’s signature curves and colours. The result: a stylishly sleek, glass fronted cooker, the embodiment of sophistication.

“The AGA ERA offers unique value. Imbued with 100 years of AGA design and engineering excellence, united with this contemporary style, makes it the first AGA Cooker to have a glass exterior,” says Blamey.

Entering a new ERA

AGA’s bold new design reflects two years of design development. “The result is a mix of traditional cast iron with the flexibility of a fan oven, complete temperature and function control, induction hotplates and a glass exterior for a high-end and effortless style,” says Blamey.

Environmentally conscientious, the AGA ERA is entirely electric, allowing it to be completely powered by solar and other renewable energy sources. “Other sustainable considerations were worked into the design and production, along with the recycled iron, which makes up a large proportion of the AGA ERA,” says Blamey.

The award-winning cooker has a list of environmental credentials, including being built for life and precise control for improved energy use.

Invented in 1922 by Swedish Physicist Dr Gustaf Dalén, the legacy of the AGA cooker began with the onset of World War I when the British government placed orders for AGA cookers for munitions works, communal feeding centres and hospitals. During challenging times of food rationing and unpredictable heating, the AGA cooker soon entered households and became an essential source of warmth and nourishment for many families affected by the war.

Fast-forward to today, and AGA’s influence extends to numerous showrooms/retailers across 24 countries. This success clearly results from the brand's dedication to technological improvement and design excellence. With this innovative step towards contemporary design trends, AGA is set to remain at the head of luxury kitchen appliances for generations to come.
