OTC Projects Builds Strength and Style with Triboard at Whangārei Development

We’ve used a fair bit of it over the years,” says Nick Shanks. “For this development, Triboard really ticked all the boxes: durability, adaptability, and quality of finish.

Triboard Strength and Versatility
Triboard is a unique three-layered panel with a wood strand core sandwiched between MDF outer skins. This design results in a clean-lined panel with exceptional resilience, stiffness, and impact resistance, making it an ideal choice for a variety of applications.
Its dimensionally stable core provides excellent load bearing and screw holding, while the MDF surfaces deliver a smooth finish for painting or overlaying.
This innovative combination of smooth surfaces with inner strength makes Triboard Linings ideal for a wide range of structural and non-structural applications. It’s available in a variety of panel sizes, thicknesses, and densities.

Smart Construction and Finishing
For the Waiwarawara Drive development, OTC Projects specified 3600 x 1200 x 15mm sheets for warehouse walls and intertenancy partitions, and 3740 x 400 x 15mm tongue-and-groove planks for a higher-end finish between office and warehouse zones. This versatile use of Triboard demonstrates its adaptability and suitability for a range of construction needs.
“That combination gave us the robustness we needed while still achieving a polished look,” says Shanks.
Installation proved to be a straightforward process. “Once the team got into their system, it went up very smoothly,” Shanks notes. “It’s comparable to any other timber sheet product once you’ve established your process.” This ease of installation provides reassurance about the practicality of using Triboard.
Warehouse areas were finished with polyurethane coating for durability and reduced marking, while office areas received a three-coat paint system to highlight the refined surface.
“The finish came up top-notch,” says Shanks. “We couldn’t be happier with the result.” This emphasis on the high-quality finish is designed to impress the audience with the aesthetic appeal of Triboard.
