Founded in 2005, Screenwood's journey began when Cameron Nelson recognised the potential in the market for a certified and prefabricated linear timber screening system. Before Screenwood, timber battens were traditionally installed individually, leading to increased complexity, maintenance issues and a lack of consistency in design.
“I'm a builder by trade, and when required to do timber screens, we had to custom make them,” says Cameron. “So, I decided to have a proprietary screening product. Not long after, we had an architect use it as a ceiling profile at The Fiddler Hotel in Sydney. From then on, I focused on producing acoustic architectural ceilings and wall linings.”
Cameron’s vision for Screenwood has been clear from its inception: to make designers' and builders' lives easier through innovative design, product quality and exceptional customer service. Over the years, the company expanded its product offerings and shifted its focus towards interior applications and acoustics, catering to the evolving needs of the industry.
As interior design continues to evolve, so does the demand for innovative and practical products that enhance the aesthetics and functionality of spaces. Screenwood's commitment to innovation has led to the creation of SOUNDLINA, an architectural game-changer.
“We realised strong acoustic performance is such a key consideration when designing spaces, so to provide an acoustic wallpaper to the market which offers a seamless look for both walls and ceilings is really exciting,” says Cameron.
“SOUNDLINA wallpaper’s patent-pending echo-reduction design works with perforated grid plasterboard and acoustic insulation to absorb sound waves and control reverberation,” Nelson adds. “It reduces auditory fatigue and enables easier conversations, making it suited to a wide range of commercial applications, including education, aged care, hospitality and retail environments, hotels, conferences, and anywhere needing to counteract echoes and reverberation.”
A world-first, SOUNDLINA is a perforated architectural wallpaper designed to provide high acoustic comfort for interior spaces. SOUNDLINA is available in 14 types of wood grain, including; vanilla bean, cremorne, Balmoral, Toorak, the oaks, white mountain oak, classic American oak, Byron blackbutt, tablelands, box wood, clifton hill, birchgrove, nutgrove and black mountain.
"Teaming up with our partners at New Age Veneers, utilising a select range of their NAVURBAN Diamond Finishes, SOUNDLINA can provide what few other wood finish wall linings in the market have: a Group 1 fire rating, high acoustic performance and all at a competitive price point,” Nelson remarks.
The revolutionary SOUNDLINA also boasts a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.85 and is pending GreenTag certification, making it a versatile and sustainable product choice.
Its versatility empowers architects and designers to push the boundaries of what's possible in their projects, offering exceptional aesthetics and acoustic performance.
Screenwood's commitment to quality, innovation and sustainability shines through in the development of SOUNDLINA; Cameron explains, “Its versatility empowers architects and designers to push the boundaries of what's possible in their projects, offering exceptional aesthetics and acoustic performance,” says Cameron.
As SOUNDLINA makes its mark on the market this month, it's poised to redefine interior design possibilities worldwide.
