“The two primary choices for VisionLINE Taurus models are whether a double-sided room divider is required or a single-sided wall-mounted mode,” says Hiddleston. This determines if you will need a freestanding or inbuilt model.  

Both options – freestanding or inbuilt – offer several advantages, from cost-effective heating to visual appeal. If you’re a design professional helping your client decide which option is right for their home, there are a few factors to consider. 

“Some prefer the look of an integrated fireplace, while others appreciate the style of freestanding fireplaces that can be set up almost anywhere. Your final choice does not, therefore, depend on one type being ‘better’ than the other, but rather, which type is more suited to your own specific needs.

“When choosing which model, keep in mind the size of your room. Freestanding fireplaces may look better in larger rooms and are ideal for open-plan areas but may not be suitable for smaller rooms or a wall where a TV and a fireplace are located.”

If you have a two-storey house, the upstairs areas will benefit from heat coming off the flue pipes with wood heaters.”

Installation and maintenance costs should also be factored into the decision-making process – built-in fireplaces can be more costly as they need to be properly fitted into the wall.
