Why choose an in-home measure and quote service?

An in-home measure and quote service brings a professional to your doorstep, allowing you to make informed decisions in the comfort of your own home. Here are some of the benefits:

Accurate measurements: Measuring for flooring, curtains and blinds can be tricky and there’s a lot of different factors to take into consideration when looking for the right solution for your home. A professional will ensure precision, save you time and prevent unnecessary mistakes from happening.
Expert advice: You'll receive recommendations on the best fabrics, styles, and colours for your specific space. A consultant will also take into consideration practical factors like insulation, light control, noise reduction, or wear and tear - helping you find the right balance between aesthetics and functionality.
No guesswork: By seeing your space firsthand, the in-home consultant can assess the room’s natural light, size, and existing decor, ensuring that your choices harmonise perfectly.
Time-saving and convenient: The service is done on your schedule, you don’t even need to visit a store if you don’t wish to.

Preparing for the appointment

To get the most out of your in-home measure and quote, a little preparation can go a long way.

Clear the space: Make sure the areas being measured are easily accessible. Move furniture or items that may obstruct access to windows, corners, or floors.
Identify your style: Before your in-home consultation, it's helpful to have a rough idea of your preferences—whether you want to go bold with colours, prefer minimalist designs, or have specific fabric types in mind. Browse through magazines, websites, or Pinterest boards to get an idea of what styles and colours resonate with you. This helps the consultant bring samples that are in line with your preferences. But if you're unsure, don’t worry our experienced consultants are there to guide you!
Set a budget: Know how much you're willing to spend. Having a clear budget allows the consultant to provide options that fit within your financial plan, helping to avoid any surprises.
Ask questions: Use this opportunity to ask any questions about durability, maintenance, installation timelines, and warranty options.

Here’s what typically happens during the appointment

Initial consultation: The Guthrie Bowron consultant will talk with you about your preferences, lifestyle needs, and any specific requirements, such as allergies, pets, children, noise control or heavy foot traffic in certain areas.
Room assessment: The consultant will view the space, focusing on lighting, wall colours, furniture, and architectural features. This ensures the recommendations align with your room’s characteristics.
Precise measurements: All relevant areas will be measured, accounting for odd corners, doorways, and unique room features that might affect carpet or window covering installation.

Product selection: Based on the measurements and your preferences, the consultant will show you a range of samples. This can include product swatches for you to gauge the look and feel of the fabric or flooring in context to your home. You’ll have the chance to put flooring options down to have a look at or hold up fabric samples to the window to get a better understanding of how they’ll complement your existing décor and act functionally within your space. This is also a great opportunity to find out about current Guthrie Bowron promotions and what finance options are available**.

Receiving a quote

After measurements are taken, you'll receive an estimate based on the products and styles you’re considering. This quote includes product cost, installation, and any extras that may occur.

Once you receive your quote, it's important to understand what is and isn’t included so feel free to ask your experienced consultant any questions you may have.

Product costs: This covers the flooring, curtain or blind materials based on the square footage or fabric meterage required.
Installation fees: For both carpets and curtains, installation can be complex, so professional service fees are generally included. This ensures the job is done correctly.
Estimated lead time: Wanting to know when your order will be ready is always top of mind for customers. It’s important to understand the lead time when ordering custom made products. Is the fabric or flooring option you’ve chosen already in-stock or will this need to be ordered in? Where are the curtains made and what is the estimated production time? These are all questions your experience consultant can help to answer during their visit.
Extras: No one likes the surprise of hidden costs. Ask your consultant about additional costs, such as the different underlay options for carpets/flooring or special linings for curtains/tracks. Is there an extra charge for removing and disposing of old carpets and curtains?

After receiving the quote, we understand that you’ll need time to review the options and decide if you’d like to proceed. You’ll have the opportunity to ask the consultant any questions relating to the quote. Once you’re ready you can confirm the order, a deposit will be required, and your order will be placed.

You’ll receive regular updates from your consultant on the progress of your order. An installation date will be booked once the order is ready and the final payment will be due.

Installation

Most installations are efficient and can be completed within a day, depending on the size of the project. Professional installers handle everything from removing old flooring or curtains to ensuring that the new products are perfectly fitted.

New builds
Ordering for a new build? We can help. Book a consultation with one of our consultants to discuss options and measurements can be taken off the plan to work out pricing. This is a great opportunity to look at options available in automation as hard wiring can be planned in advance.
