“We use 316L marine grade stainless steel that’s designed to be able to withstand the environment and the elements,” says Mike Daish, general manager at Stoked Stainless.

“Especially the stainless steel, it can be fixed,” says Daish. “If it gets scratched, it can get fixed. If it gets bent, it can get fixed, and that’s different to other types of wooden tubs or plastic acrylic tubs. Our tubs can easily be repaired whether it’s from damage caused by a tree falling on the tub or the property getting flooded, for example.”

“Our spas feel different,” says Daish. “There’s a myth where people think of stainless steel tubs as being cold because they’re metal, but the metal heats up to the same temperature as the water. By doing this, it feels like you’re floating in the water when you’re sitting because the water and the steel are the same temperature.
“There’s no differentiation in the temperature as you’d experience in a wooden tub where the wood doesn’t heat up or plastic that sort of heats up but it’s always still a bit cooler.”
The tubs are also well insulated and able to retain heat.
“Just like your home, how well a hot tub is insulated will greatly impact its ability to retain heat, and just like a well-insulated house, a well-insulated hot tub will stay warmer longer and be more cost-effective. We use a dedicated foam product that offers good insulation.”
Hygienic
The use of marine-grade stainless steel makes Stoked Stainless plunge pools, spas and baths hygienic and easy to clean.
“Stainless steel has hygienic attributes – that’s why it’s used for wine vats and milk tanks,” says Daish.
Its non-porous surface reduces the buildup of bacteria and means it can be maintained without excessive chemical treatments.
“The treatment we use and recommend is called AquaSpa. It doesn’t have any chlorine or any bromide so it’s a really good product and it makes the water feel like a mineral spa.”
