Accumen is the New Zealand manufacturer of Accuthermax™ XPS. We stock standard sheets and can also cut custom shapes to meet your project requirements. Accuthermax™ XPS is also used in the manufacture of our Slab Edge Insulation – Accumen SEI Boards.

Accuthermax™ XPS has become a material of choice for home builders, specifiers, architects and engineers thanks to its high compressive strength and superior thermal performance. It is produced with high levels of recycled expanded polystyrene diverted from landfill, making it a genuinely sustainable building product.

Accuthermax™ XPS delivers higher long-term R-values and consistent thermal performance. Resilient and robust, Accuthermax™ XPS is suitable for a wide range of residential and commercial applications.

Because insulation performance drops when it absorbs water, Accuthermax™ XPS is engineered with a high-density, closed-cell structure that makes it practically impervious to moisture. Even under extreme weather conditions it maintains its thermal and physical properties.

Scope of use

Dimensionally stable, organically inert and moisture resistant, Accuthermax™ XPS meets key requirements in structural and civil engineering. With superior compressive strength and long-term R-values, it is ideal for:

  • Floors subject to engineered loads and constant traffic
  • Inverted roofs and rooftop gardens
  • Parking decks
  • Slab edge insulation
  • Commercial purlin roof spacers

All Accuthermax™ XPS products are manufactured from a fire-retardant raw material and do not present a fire hazard when correctly installed. Like other organic materials, polystyrene will burn in direct contact with flame, but will self-extinguish once the fire source is removed.

Produced without refrigerants and free from HCFCs, Accuthermax™ XPS helps limit external temperature influences, reduce internal temperature swings and lower reliance on air-conditioning. That means less energy use and fewer greenhouse gas emissions over the life of the building.

Key benefits of Accuthermax™ XPS

  • Superior compressive strength
  • Extremely durable for long-lasting applications
  • Lightweight and easy to handle
  • Practically impervious to water
  • Delivers long-term retained R-values
  • Environmentally friendly – CFC & HCFC free
  • Complies with all relevant building codes
  • Tested for compliance with NZS 4859.1
Performance

When insulation comes into contact with water it can have an adverse effect on its ability to thermally insulate; but when faced with extreme weather conditions, Styroboard XPS still preserves its thermal and physical properties thanks to its high-density cell structure, making it practically impervious to water.
