There are several different types of shower screens such as framed, frameless, semi-framed, sliding door, fixed panel, and quadrant shower screens.  Often, extra features or shower accessories may be included like handles or shower shelves.

Types of bath and shower screens 

Framed shower screen

This is often a popular option for families and budget-conscious households.  A fully framed glass shower screen over most baths provides a full enclosure, created by glass panels that are supported by aluminium frames. 

Frameless shower screen 

A frameless shower screen provides a more sleek and minimalistic look.  With minimum hardware visible, these screens feature a more simple yet modern feel.  This is a great option for smaller bathrooms with limited space. 

Semi-frameless shower screens 

This screen type affixed to certain baths is a framed option, yet much more subtly so than a fully framed screen.  This offers the same support and strength whilst having a more sophisticated ‘frameless’ look.  

Sliding shower screen

Sliding door bath screens are most attractive for their space-saving functionality, especially in bathrooms where space is limited.  This is because the doors do not open inwards or outwards.  

Pivot door shower screens 

A pivot door is the most traditional screen and rotates open to one central point.  This type of screen is far more suited to a bathroom with a larger area of space as the door needs a fair amount of space to open. Bath and shower screens that have this feature are quite the trend.

Bifold doors 

Bifold shower screen doors save space whilst simultaneously being stylish. They can have two or more folds with opening mechanisms making them a sleek and attractive option. 

Quadrant shower screens 

This specific type of shower and bath screen is designed to fit into a corner of a bathroom.  Generally, these screens use sliding doors, which serve as space-saving and welcome contraptions.  

Fixed panel shower screens 

A fixed panel glass bath screen consists of a single frameless glass panel.  This creates a simple, minimalistic look.  This option requires a larger bathroom area as a drying area is needed.   

Differences in glass thickness 

Various shower and bath screens vary in the thickness of their glass. Naturally, the thicker screens are heavier, with a thicker glass often alluding to a sense of quality and luxury. The levels of thickness usually range from 3mm to 8mm.  At the end of the day, it is really only up to personal preference.  

Bath and Shower Screen Care 

Bath and shower screens really don't need much maintenance besides being cleaned regularly.  This prevents stains from building up. The most effective solution to this is to give your screen a quick wipe down after every one to three uses. 

Although this may seem excessive, it will keep your bathroom looking in perfect condition and will prolong the lifespan of your shower screen.
