As the name suggests, a frameless glass shower door is one that doesn’t require frames, metal or otherwise, for support to function. They give a more open feeling to a bathroom.

In Australia, high-quality options often come coated with hydrophobic surfaces, which slow down the accumulation of grime and make a shower easier to clean. In addition to this, a high-quality glass door is more likely to be made of thicker, stronger glass, which is less likely to shatter in case of an accident.

For bathtub doors, measure the bath opening and check that the door clears taps and other fittings.

The type of door you install also depends on the shape of the shower. A sliding door saves space but needs enough room for the sliding panel to move into. If there’s no room for a sliding door, consider an alternative like a hinged or folding style. The shower door should, ideally, match your shower screen.
