Grey cladding and facades

Composite cladding can provide timber-look or panelised finishes, but always confirm fire, fixing and warranty conditions for the intended building type.

Grey does not have to cover every surface. Facade screens can add privacy, sun control and depth. Glazed facade systems suit commercial and high-end residential projects where transparency, structure and energy performance must be resolved together. Eaves and soffits help finish roof edges, while exterior decorative mouldings can define openings or heritage-style details. For planted exterior walls, green facades need irrigation, support and maintenance access planned from the start.

• Colour stability: Ask how the grey finish performs under UV exposure and whether fading, chalking or patina is expected.
• Moisture management: Review cavity, ventilation, wrap, flashing and drainage requirements.
• Maintenance: Compare cleaning, recoating and inspection needs, especially near the coast.
• Samples: View grey cladding samples outside at different times of day. Cool greys, warm greys and charcoal can change strongly in natural light.
