Solar Panels

Monocrystalline solar panels generally produce more power per square metre than polycrystalline panels, so they suit roofs with limited space.

About Solar Panels products

Solar panels will add value to your property, now and for any future owners. They work by using semi-conductive material to convert light into electricity, saving you money in a sustainable way. Why not make the most of the hot sun in Australia and install home solar panels? Browse the range of roof solar panels, electric solar systems, solar inverters and batteries on ArchiPro, sourced from Australia’s top suppliers, and make your home or business electricity-efficient and climate-friendly.

Harness the power of the sun by installing solar panels, adding value to your home or making your business more sustainable. Wherever you want to install solar, ArchiPro can help you find the products you need, with a wide range of solar panels and accessories from trusted suppliers across Australia.

Monocrystalline panels

These are among the most efficient type of solar panel system, taking up less space and lasting longer. They are also among the most expensive to install.

Polycrystalline panels

Polycrystalline panels are slightly less efficient than the monocrystalline option, though are more affordable and a good option for those just starting out.

PERC panels

Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell (PERC) panels collect more solar energy using less panel space, making them ideal for limited spaces.

Thin film panel

As these don’t come in a uniform size, they are best for unorthodox roof styles and are very resilient, despite being a thinner panel.

Bifacial solar panel

Bifacial solar panels capture sunlight from both the front and back of the panel, which means they can produce more electricity than similar-sized, traditional solar panels.

The advantages of high-quality solar panels

Solar power systems can add value to your property, reduce pressure on the grid and save you money. Investing in a quality product will reap these benefits, providing an efficient power source over a longer time period. A high-quality product will also have the technology in place to avoid problems sometimes seen with solar panels, such as hot spots (caused by bird droppings or debris). You should also make sure the install is as good as the product, choosing only experienced and professional installers. There are also high-quality portable solar panels if you wish to travel.

How to choose solar panels that are right for you

If you’ve got limited space, PERC panels take up less room so are a strong option to consider. Monocrystalline are a very effective and premium choice. Polycrystalline are a good affordable option, though they’re less efficient in high-temperature environments, emphasising the fact that it's important to choose a panel to suit where you live in Australia. There are different levels of watts to choose from. It can be 400 watt solar panel, 300 watts or even 100 watts. It depends of the usage.

What are solar panels made of?

Typical crystalline panels are made up largely of silicon, while thin film panels are made from cadmium telluride, amorphous silicon (a non-crystalline silicon) or copper indium gallium selenide.

How long do solar panels last?

Good quality solar panels, installed professionally and maintained properly, should last for several decades. Monocrystalline panels are one of the longer-lasting panels.

How many solar panels are needed to run a house?

The average household in Australia consumes approximately 7,000kWh a year of grid-produced electricity. To match that and cover all your power, you would need a 6kW system—which will consist of 16 to 25 home solar panels, depending on their size.

Do solar panels have to go on a roof?

Though most solar panels are roof panels and it’s a great location for them, they can be mounted on the ground or on structures like carports if necessary. Ground mounted systems can cost more due to the preparation needed, such as trenching.
