In March 2020, with our doors forced shut we made the decision to fast track 2021 refurbishment plans and reopen as the Harbord Hotel before Christmas.

The contribution from A&Co and CBP to design, lodge and construct a $7million refurbishment in 9 months cannot be understated. 

As head consultant, A&CO. were relentless to achieve the following timeline:

DA lodgement - 5 weeks 

Approval - 8 weeks 

Occupation certificate – 24 weeks

The design had to respect the heritage building but bring it into a modern era while making allowance for future stages. This was a structural feat. With our tight timeline we started the structural works while A&Co worked tirelessly on the detailed design. It was always a race against time, and to execute at the desired level of detail meant long hours by all involved.

HBH has always held a special place in the community. Our vision was to pay homage to the venue’s rich history and showcase Freshwater’s unique beach culture. Alexander and Co helped us create this vision and their execution was flawless with the venue receiving nothing but praise from the hypersensitive locals. The finished product speaks for itself but the process was just as impressive.

Will&Co’s grounding philosophy is a ‘culture of coffee’ and the design of our new flagship space wholly inspires this concept. Despite the multiple limitations and complexities of the existing site the Alexander &CO. team were able to create a truly unique HQ which is reflective of the brand’s coastal positioning and also our desire for a multi-purpose, concept space which defies any existing design genre! We are so happy with the outcome and the space has been welcomed by our Bondi locals and loyal customers, allowing us to directly connect to our Will&Co. community.  

I engaged the Alexander &CO team to help deliver my vision for an Italian restaurant, Glorietta in North Sydney in 2019. Faced with a flagship tenancy at the base of the new Mount Street tower, I was very concerned about delivering both the quality of venue that was needed, but also the administration and politics that became evident from the outset in our dealings with the landlord's development team. Although my background is in Food and Bev, this venue was bigger, more technically challenging, and more risk-laden than previous projects. 

The venue has exceeded every expectation that I had. My Italian food vision has absolutely been brought to life, it is a Renaissance venue for North Sydney and I am thrilled with the care that the Alexander &CO team delivered, the passion of the creatives who worked with me, and the operational excellence that the venue has achieved.

I started out with Alexander &CO. with a plan merely to operate their finished venue, but bit by bit they invested me into the process, becoming a truly consultative and shared design experience. Our project construction was painstakingly slow given its heritage listing and very poor building quality, however, Alexander &CO. had both the technical tenacity and council knowledge to deliver what has become a project I truly love. We are very proud of the space and if I could stand on the roof and shout it I would, to sing their praises.

Alexander &CO. were wonderful to work with on the Woolwich Pier Hotel renovation. We collaborated well and their experience guided us in combining contemporary style with a very historical pub. We designed a beautiful, workable space, making the venue more customer-friendly while delivering on taste and aesthetics simultaneously. 

Our aim was to freshen the feel of the hotel while maintaining a high level of comfort. Alexander &CO. helped us deliver this to our customers. The renovation has been immensely successful, delivering on all of our objectives and we would definitely use and recommend Alexander &CO. [them] again.

Alexander &CO have shown both professionalism and intuitiveness in the design and build of our two most recent flagship stores.

The more recent and important QVB store was a difficult project to the fishbowl location – three of the four walls being glass window exposure to the street.

Jeremy Bull, the principal, utilised the space with maximum impact and presented us with a design that will be the blueprint for future stores

Jeremy and Alexander &CO. have become part of our extended team, with a professional relationship which spans more than 12 years and now includes both brands in our portfolio; interstate and more recently international projects, they are a trusted and essential part of our business for architectural needs.

Their architectural expertise and combined Interior architecture excellence has followed us interstate and internationally across our various project roll outs, specifically in retail store roll out & our Food & Beverage category. We would not hesitate to recommend them for any project.

I love our team, our shared philosophy and the spirit of the venues we have created. They are deeply personal to me, and once the team and I are aligned I have absolute faith in the team’s ability to get the job done.
