We believe every design tells a story, every environment creates an experience, and every project is founded on collaborative relationships and trust.

The Chow:Hill team designs with purpose, shaping possibilities to turn a project vision into reality.

Our desire is to deliver environments that evoke a sense of identity, inspire genuine engagement, and are reflective of the cultural, social, and commercial needs of our clients and their communities.

During our 30 years in the design industry, we have delivered an extensive portfolio of projects in the Commercial, Health, Education, Community, Civic and Public Realm, and every project sits within a wider societal and environmental context.

We build positive partnerships, foster respect and understanding, deliver sustainable outcomes, and design for long-term growth.

Here at Chow:Hill, great design is only the beginning.

Our Approach

At Chow:Hill, we shape design through collaboration and design thinking.

Collaboration is the keystone of our approach; we are inspired by those we work with and their goals for the future. Establishing strong partnerships is vital, which is why people are at the heart of our projects.

We’re driven to create environmentally, culturally and economically sustainable outcomes. Our commitment to and respect for sustainable design practices comes from a ‘first principles’ perspective, focusing on future-fit project deliverables.

As a team, we are quietly ambitious with extensive experience and industry recognition for our work. We are proud of each award we receive but know that to design with success, we must continue to work in collaboration with our clients, share ideas, learn from each other, establish partnerships based on trust, and show respect in everything we do.

Sustainability

Our Company Social Responsibility (CSR) framework aims to transparently describe the environmental impacts of our activities while identifying our strategic goals and performance targets.

We strive to develop healthy relationships between the natural and built environments, where individuals and communities thrive through a sense of personal and public well-being.

Through ongoing learning and engagement, our cultural design and relationship framework – whaanaunatanga (relationships), kotahitanga (collaboration), and manaakitanga (caring) – are growing as guiding principles of our day to day actions and interactions with stakeholders, the intent behind our design work and in minimising our impact on our environment.

These principles and our values co-exist together.

“Thank you for your excellent work. The materials used show the exploration of the stories shared by Ngai Te Ahi which have in turn become opportunities to create an architecture that is, at its core, meaningful to the community.”

Matt Hutcheson, Kainga Ora
