Established in 1997, Cult (formerly Corporate Culture) formed to provide not only exceptional designer furniture, but also a high level of customer service, a combination not yet experienced in the Australian marketplace.

In his endeavours since then, company founder and director Richard Munao has built one of the most comprehensive collections of brand partners in Australia and New Zealand. Cult has grown from its first location in Sydney to now include showrooms in Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland as well as distributors in Canberra, Adelaide and Perth.

In addition to founding Cult, and supporting strong international partners like Fritz Hansen, Carl Hansen & Son, &Tradition, HAY and Gubi, Richard is actively involved in discovering and mentoring emerging Australian and New Zealand design talent. As founder of Cult’s Design Journey Competition, which began in 2004, Richard gives designers throughout Australia and New Zealand the opportunity to have their designs prototyped and put into production.

Cult.

Design first.

Authentic Design

Committed to Original Design

We are committed to providing the Australian market with quality original design.

Cult's furniture and lighting business evolved out of a passion for the Danish design sensibility. The Danish approach fit well with our own vision and values and it is with pride that we continue to distribute major Danish brands in Australia today.

Our first collections included notables such as Erik Jorgensen amongst others. Many of these brands remain a fundamental part of our offering today. Now the collection has grown to include partners from all over the world, including Italy, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden and of course Australia, all with an underlying coherence and aesthetic.

Education of both our team and clients is an inherent part of what we do and there is a high level of investment in the products we represent. This is evidenced via:

  • Comprehensive showrooms in major Australian and New Zealand cities
  • Strong distributor relationships in other cities
  • Ensuring actual furniture items (samples) are present in our showrooms
  • Thorough and detailed staff training in all existing and new products
  • Informative and educational presentations to designers on existing and new products
  • Facilitating travel to trade fairs, manufacturing locations and designer's workshops

We research thoroughly which partners and products to include as part of the Corporate Culture collection and to ensure that both our team and our clients are inducted into the unique attributes and story of each product.

ADA Member

Cult has always been a strong believer in the value of original design. The existence of replicas damages the design industry and the people it supports. That is why Richard Munao, Managing Director of Cult, joined forces with other key industry professionals to form the Authentic Design Alliance.

The Authentic Design Alliance is an organisation of like-minded Architecture and Interior Design businesses and professionals. The ADA exists to support the integrity of original, authentic design and to raise awareness of the benefits of buying original designs versus copies. The ADA is steadily gaining support from the industry on this matter, with a longer term objective of lobbying government to change laws around copyright and patenting of designs.
