Fully customised designs and finishes – able to produce fully customised designs and colours utilising highly skilled staff.  We do not utilise kit-set techniques so spaces are fully utilised.

Professional installation – completed by DBJ dedicated installers.  This includes substantial installations throughout New Zealand and off-shore.

Environmentally responsible manufacturing – DBJ’s environmental practises have been externally audited on an annual basis as part of the ISO14001 certification process from 2012-2018.   

Lean Principles - DBJ ensures that all staff are trained in Lean Manufacturing principles and that this is an ethos throughout all our processes to ensure quicker, sustainable, cost-efficient processes from design through to installation.

Delivering high standards of health and safety – winners of ACC ThinkSafe Awards for Excellence in Health & Safety in 2003 & 2005, then ACC Tertiary accredited under the Workplace Safety Management Practises scheme to 2019.

Key Differences with DBJ Projects:

1. Screw glue and rebate all cabinets, instead of butt joints with L bracket.
2. High-quality HMR E0 board on all substrate both faces and carcase – this MDF is the highest grade, density and environmentally friendly with low formaldehyde and is also rated as moisture resistant.
3. Solid timber to all areas touching the floor in wet areas and around recessed handle details for longevity.
4. Ensuite floating vanities are on hanging cleats or steel pins bolted onto framing instead of simply screwed directly through the cabinet.
5. Ensuite mirror cabinets have routed out tile finishing detail for quality join/detail between tile and mirror cabinet.
6. Full working drawings and sign offs.
7. Multiple site visits and interaction with the design team, client and main contractor.

DBJ specialises in work for high calibre design and construction professionals. DBJ works collaboratively with you and your client to ensure plans are accurately translated into reality. DBJ can provide advice on materials, fittings or other details as required.

DBJ Direct Clients

Some clients approach DBJ directly to commission work. We offer an in-house design service for those who do not already have a design professional involved and we can link clients to a range of other suitable design or construction professionals if this is required. Prototyping, Contract Manufacturing and Polishing

DBJ staff are highly experienced in producing one-off items and as a result, DBJ is an ideal partner for those undertaking proto-typing. DBJ has strengths in design and problem-solving so is able to add considerable value to the proto-typing process. DBJ can also provide contract manufacturing and polishing services to other manufacturers or project managers. DBJ has full CAD and CNC capabilities and is a specialist in cost-effective short-run production. Call us directly to discuss production availability and costs.

DBJ’s commitment to environmentally responsible design and manufacturing is a long-standing one. DBJ actively pursued better environmental practices before such commitments became a business imperative.

DBJ was a member of the Envirosmart pilot programme in 2002 and was one of the first to graduate from the programme. DBJ’s environmental practises have been externally audited on an annual basis under the Enviromark scheme administered by Landcare Research (2002-2011). DBJ was accredited to Enviromark Gold standard since 2005 and upgraded this to become ISO14001 certified in 2012.

Among many other things DBJ:

• Utilises CAD and CNC technologies to optimise board use - minimising waste
• Has an extensive recycling programme in place
• Requires suppliers to keep us up to date with information about environmentally responsible products
• Assesses all machinery and equipment purchases against power consumption and other environmental criteria
• Regularly services and upgrades our vehicle fleet
• Actively participates in initiatives by government and business organisations to promote environmentally responsible commerce
• Participates in relevant sustainability-focused research projects:

DBJ began trading in 1994. The company developed and consolidated an outstanding reputation in the architectural sector as well as achieving the ISO14001 environmental standard and gaining recognition as a leader in health and safety management, with projects we have been a part of gaining multiple awards in various design and industry sectors.

DBJ is a highly skilled team of 35, made up of designers, craftsmen and office staff who all carry our values of Quality, Integrity and Transparency. DBJ operates a significant cabinetmaking operation, a full in-house polishing facility as well as a team of dedicated DBJ installers which allows a keen focus on customer service, quality and attention to detail. DBJ projects are manufactured in New Zealand in DBJ’s own environmentally certified factory which is located approximately 10 minutes from the CBD in the Wairau Valley on Auckland’s North Shore (see map in Contact).

Our managing director Paul's expertise in customer service and management is being applied to refine and develop DBJ’s systems and processes to bring designers and customers an even better experience.
