Before establishing Di Baker Interiors in 2008, company founder, Di Baker, developed her extensive design knowledge and expertise working as both an independent consultant and with a leading New Zealand interior design firm.

Located in central Wellington, her business is founded on referrals and loyal clients who value her total and personal commitment to every project and client. Di's approach to design is both detailed, and big picture.  She is professional, knowledgeable, and has a strong focus on form, proportion and enduring design.

Di has formed a wide network of creative and committed people who, alongside her team of designers, provide a comprehensive service and ensure her clients receive the best support and guidance whilst working with Di Baker Interiors.

We source textiles for curtaining and furniture, selecting appropriate fabrics and designs to provide a cohesive and balanced interior.  We can design bespoke furniture items or assist with reupholstering your existing furniture.

Finishes and fittings provide the influential final layer to ensure all the design components in your new space work together.  Whether selecting interior or exterior colours, lighting, flooring, or kitchen and bathroom surfaces, we can recommend classic materials to suit your lifestyle.  Through our comprehensive product knowledge and established relationships with suppliers, we offer appropriate colours, textures and materials to add life and vibrancy to your space.

Customised Joinery

We can design and install custom storage solutions to house or showcase your personal collections.  From traditional library shelving and custom wardrobes to contemporary media storage, we design functional and attractive joinery to meet your specific requirements.  Utilising quality materials and workmanship we deliver a personalised solution to maximise space and work seamlessly in your home.

Kitchen and Bathroom Design

A new kitchen or bathroom needs to be carefully considered in order to work as a functional everyday part of your home. We provide full plans and design unique and functional spaces to enhance the daily lives of our clients. Likewise, we work to create bathrooms that are luxurious and restful spaces for you and your guests to enjoy.

Working with plans

Working with and supporting your architect provides the opportunity for us to add value to the design process and consider critical interior implications before construction begins.  We step in as your architectural plans near completion, evaluating and influencing decisions that shape the success of your finished space.

Managing any construction or renovation project can be stressful.  We regularly project manage for our clients, tailoring this service to the level of management that suits you best.

“I first discovered Di Baker and her wonderful interior design company when I was buying a brand new townhouse in Wellington and was searching for an interior designer who could help me furnish it, from top to toe, in a style that I could best describe as "informal elegance". I knew broadly the look I wanted, but had no idea how to get there and knew I could make a lot of expensive mistakes along the way if I tried to do it myself. I looked at many websites but was immediately attracted to Di Baker Interiors', not only because of the photos of her lovely interior designs for a wide range of homes, but also because of the way she described her approach to her work - showing a real empathy for her clients' needs and styles, listening to what they wanted and being mindful of budgets. Having given Di a rather vague description of what I had in mind, she quickly translated this into what would transform a very modern house into a stylish but comfortable home. For each room she presented me with several concepts, drawing on the incredible range of suppliers - furniture, fabrics, and lightening - with whom she has close relationships. Di was also very willing to be flexible, accommodating a couple of sentimental antiques I had into a very modern house, combining classical with contemporary styles. Di gives a very personal, very professional service, prompt and efficient at all times. I was absolutely thrilled with the end result and still say to friends that it was the best decision I ever made!”
