'Evelyn was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout our Hahei project....from idea conception and refinement, through planning, through managing it through council, through execution. Always professional and efficient, with well considered and creative ideas and input. We are thrilled with the result, and Evelyn was a critical party to deliver upon this.'

We engaged Evelyn (EMA) to design our holiday house by Kuaotunu Beach in the Coromandel in 2012. We selected her based on a beach house she had designed in Tairua which we read about in a Houses NZ magazine and really liked. Evelyn was a delight to work with. She quickly grasped our vision and then added her own unique ideas and thoughts to complement ours resulting in a genuinely shared concept for the design and build. During the six month construction period she continued to contribute ideas and sound advice on the choice of materials and also made some minor design changes to address a few building and budgetary issues without any compromise to the overall look and feel of the house. The end product is a stunning beach house of outstanding quality and design which blends comfortably into the landscape and is frequently admired and commented on by visitors and passers-by alike. Evelyn is an extremely bright, capable and talented young architect armed with creative but realistic design concepts and ideas who we would engage again in a similar project without hesitation and can highly recommend EMA to others.

Before meeting Evelyn, I had always thought that replacing the old house on our property in Auckland would be too complex & difficult to contemplate, especially as we live overseas. After casually browsing a few websites and finding Evelyn’s work, I knew straightaway that she was the architect for us. Working with Evelyn was a dream. Everything was done via email plus occasional calls and progressed rapidly. We didn’t in fact meet in person until construction had actually commenced. The design incorporated exactly the details we wanted in a stunning design, perfectly adapted to make optimum use of the sloping site, while also being highly practical from a construction efficiency perspective. We are delighted with the end result and would not hesitate to use Evelyn again.

We commissioned Evelyn to design/plan our renovation in 2013, we had heard many stories about the difficulties and frustrations of renovating but for us the whole process was a pleasure thanks to her. We found Evelyn fantastic to deal with, she had the ability to listen and implement the ideas & features we required. She is super efficient and easy to communicate with, we have no hesitation in recommending Evelyn and are happy to give a verbal reference if required.
