Having worked alongside Matt as a subcontractor on previous builds, we experienced firsthand his great skill with project management and communication. His work sites are organised, and his staff are well instructed, respectful and hard working. This insight made it an obvious choice to engage Matt for our build.  

During our build, Matt’s advice was always well received. Often Matt had pre-empted an issue and provided mitigating options even before it was even on our radar. In other situations, Matt would highlight ways existing plans could be improved, considering carefully the functionality of the design, the cost and the aesthetic. Matt was careful to plan what day to day decisions were pertinent to the progress of the build and addressed them in such a way so that it never felt overwhelming or stressful. In fact, the whole process was absolutely enjoyable.

We both hold Matt in high regard both as a person and as a professional, and we are filled with gratitude with the investment he had in our home. Matt really wanted the best for our family and we feel that is what he achieved– our dream home.

Ferguson Contracting built our first new house for us on a steep incline on Princes Drive. It was a technically demanding build that Matt completed on time, within budget and to an extremely high standard.  

Matt understood what we were trying to achieve and made sure all subcontractors completed their work to his, and our, high standards. During the build he came up with ideas to either enhance our property, or small changes that would cut our costs and enhance our vision.

We have since moved to Christchurch and get Matt to do any repairs on the house - always tenant or weather-related, and do work on our rental properties. We are remote so not always able to articulate what we need to be done and need to rely on Matt to look at the property and interpret the best course of action. We have complete trust that Matt will produce an outcome that will meet our goals in the most efficient and cost-effective way.

We will move back to Nelson in a few years and build another new house. We will get Matt to build it for us. We have no hesitation recommending Ferguson Contracting for new builds, renovations, repairs, and maintenance. Ferguson Contracting has worked on all types for us and we have been really impressed with the quality of work and value of the outcomes
