About

Four Walls Architecture is a boutique, award-winning NZIA practice that prides itself on concise, clear, calm and beautifully crafted architecture both inside and out. We believe in architecture that stands the test of time, through its function, purpose, materiality and quality of design. Our clients are our priority; without you, we cannot create, so we leave aside ego and put you, your budget and your project vision at the centre of all our work.

We have worked throughout New Zealand, in its unique coastal, rural and urban environments, so we know how every site brings its own design opportunities and constraints, and how to make the best of both. We have an exceptional team who are equally committed to your project; you are in safe hands at every project stage as we help you bring your project to fruition, from the first meeting to completion.

Testimonials

“Four Walls Architecture is an excellent architecture firm. Claire and Amy designed our home’s new extension and renovation of the remaining portion of the house. They were fantastic to deal with, had great ideas, and were available and communicative throughout the entire design and build process. We are delighted with the final outcome and we would highly recommend Claire, Amy and the firm”
Nicola Milner-White, Auckland, 2017
"Amy and Claire at four walls architecture have been fantastic to work with. They are very professional, organised and listen to what the clients needs are. They designed our bungalow renovation - exterior extensions and also interior specifications.
We would highly recommend them"

“Amy and the rest of the Four Walls team are amazing to deal with. From day one we have found Amy easy to deal with, she gets us and what we’re trying to achieve, she questions and probes, and she is constantly providing suggestions about how we can maximise the potential in our design. Importantly she also reminds us on the budget we set ourselves so that we are all comfortable and don’t get carried away!”
Michael and Rachel Beattie, Auckland, 2017
"Amy and Claire have provided us with fantastic ideas that look good & feel great. They have listened to the way we live our lives in our home, to ensure both a superb functional & aesthetic result. From concept plans, to building & resource consent, to helping manage the project through to completion, nothing is too much trouble. Their knowledge of the industry is superb, and they are effective at resourcing additional information.
They are friendly, approachable and highly professional and we wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend them and Four Walls Architecture."
Richard Goodall, Glendowie, 2016
“I have been building houses for 20 years now and have worked with many different designer and architects during this time. I have had the pleasure of completing an amazing clifftop home created by Amy and more recently in building her own home. We always found Amy a pleasure to deal with in every way. Amy provided us with the exactly the information we needed, promptly when we needed it. She is a creative problem solver and works well with the many different types of people who are on site. Amy has attention to detail, is informative and obliging, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.”
Tim Smith, Coastbuild, Whangaparaoa, 2015
“Designing and building a new home is a long exercise and as such the relationship with your architect, particularly if they are also managing the build, is extremely important. Claire was an excellent listener and who creatively captured what we wanted in our home. She understood what we liked and what we didn’t and kept that in mind with everything she did. We now have a wonderful holiday home that works for us in so many ways. Claire also project managed the build from beginning to end with such ease that it was a smooth and enjoyable process. Nothing was too much trouble. It was an absolute pleasure working with Claire”
Andrew Clark and Rebecca Keen, 2014
An amazing job Amy, well done, we could not be happier with your efforts, both in your architectural skill and the manner in which you have handled the project”
Murray Gain, Christchurch, 2012
