CONTRACTS, CLAIMS & DISPUTE SERVICES

We recognise the processes involved in resolving contract disputes can be time-consuming, expensive and stressful. We are conscious of the pressures that are faced by parties in disputes and we work closely with our clients and their legal advisors and the other party to resolve disputes in a timely manner and with cost-effective outcomes.

Performance Building Consultancy

Leaky and draughty buildings are less comfortable to live in, are more costly to heat (and cool) and are potentially less durable. Poorly designed and constructed homes can cost 30-50% and sometimes more to heat and cool. Airtightness is important as it identifies air leaks/gaps in your building envelope.

IMAGINE LIVING IN A BUILDING WITH NO COLDS DRAUGHTS - BUT INSTEAD A CONSTANT TEMPERATURE ALL YEAR-ROUND

Building to a suitable level of 'airtightness' is integral to the performance of a building. Proving and measuring that it is built airtight, and finding unnecessary air leakage is what we can do for you by performing an Air Leakage verification test using a Blower Door system.

PERFORMANCE BUILDING MATERIALS

Improved energy performance of buildings presents a win-win-win opportunity, reducing stress on the electricity network, offering bill savings, supporting a least-cost pathway to a zero-carbon built environment, and improving health and resilience outcomes for households.

Passive House is about "Building Tight & Ventilating Right". It all starts with product selections that are designed to work as a system, creating healthy, comfortable, energy-efficient and durable buildings. Read more about Proclima products here.

Blower Door Testing

During the build phase, a blower door test is performed to quantify how airtight or leaky your build is.  The ‘Tighter” the building, the lower the energy losses and spending, and the greater the comfort levels.

Specialised, calibrated test equipment and software are used to create controlled air pressure allowing us to calculate the uncontrolled flow of air in the building.

BENEFITS OF AIRTIGHTNESS

  • Improve occupant comfort by identification of heating, cooling and comfort issues, typically decreasing unwanted draughts and hence allergens, dust and dirt.
  • Improved airtightness leads to a reduction in the loss of conditioned air (heating/cooling) and thus lower energy bills, it can improve acoustics, rejecting outdoor noise making the building “feel” better to live in
  • Quantify how leaky your building is, obtaining verification of the actual building envelope performance
  • Reduction in your carbon footprint by having an airtight building i.e. reduced environmental impact for energy usage.

At Green Wave Projects we use calibrated test equipment and software. Prior to your appointment, we will guide you in preparing for the test.

The appointment can differ depending on the complexity and air-tightness of your home.

Thermography

Thermography or Infrared image is not like an X-ray. It is a representation of the temperatures across the surface of an object, and how those surface temperatures can be influenced by various factors. Eg. hot/cold sources behind or in front, moisture evaporation, thermal bridging, insulation levels, etc.

It is an excellent, non-invasive, non-destructive, fast and safe tool to identify items that warrant further investigation in the building envelope

Moving through the building scanning all building surfaces with an infrared camera - walls, ceilings, windows, doorways, junctions between different materials, etc. and using the buildings Heating/Cooling as necessary to create a suitable condition, helps to identify structural and other features, and potential issues that may be present such as;

BENEFITS OF AIRTIGHTNESS

  • Missing or poorly fitted insulation in ceilings and walls
  • Thermal bridges in the structure
  • Air infiltration/leakage
  • Mould
  • Water egress
  • Roofing and flashing leaks
  • Locate services eg. How water pipes, in-slab heating elements (hydronic or electrical)
