My house in Sorrento was completed in 2014-15. It is a large solid two-storey stone house with a large living and dining area, five bedrooms with bathrooms, stone floor (from a demolished chateau in France), four-car garage, swimming pool, large water storage tanks internally, hydronic heating, etc., with a central stairway and dome and terracotta tile roof. It was designed by Rob Mills Architects.

Glenn Longstaff was Project Manager throughout the job. Although VCON was the building contractor, I relied upon Glenn during weekly on-site meetings. Glenn managed the workmen on site very well and achieved a high standard of workmanship and no delays or problems. He recommended and discussed several variations as work was being done and each was a good suggestion that has proven to be desirable improvements. He managed costs well. He was professional, open and straightforward to deal with.

Glenn Longstaff, from GSTRUCT GROUP, recently completed the building of my new house. To say that I am beyond thrilled is an understatement. The build was completed within the allocated time frame and the workmanship is of the highest quality. Thank you GSTRUCT.

From the first conversation over the phone with Glenn from GSTRUCT GROUP, I felt comfortable that Glenn was the right builder for our long-planned house project on the Mornington Peninsula. The project was a new build on our farm. We had a planning approval and a bare paddock. The architectural drawings were not progressed much past planning documents, so pricing the job was challenging. With the right builder, I would always prefer a cost, plus contract, especially given we were living on the property and could track progress and make decisions quickly as detailed documentation was presented. The pricing process was very thorough and transparent. All the major trades were put to tender with as much detail as we could provide. At least three prices were sought and received and presented by Glenn, who was fully engaged in every detail from day one. 

From the initial tender process, we had a good indication of the price, with an understanding that the prices submitted would alter based on detailed drawings. From that point, we entered into a cost, plus contract, that we were both happy with. The project timelines were tight, initiated more so by Glenn than us as the clients. The process kicked off and despite a large number of critical aspects of the building materials still undecided or indeed detailed, Glenn forged ahead. The project could have easily derailed on numerous occasions due to delayed drawings and changes that ourselves and the architect initiated mid-build. Glenn never once lost his cool. 

Glenn coordinated the landscaping, hard and soft, dealt with planning matters pertaining to the changed pool layout, all the time managed and ensured the house was processed on time and budget. Glenn treated the trades on-site in a firm but fair manner. No corners were cut or errors swept over. The trades respected the work site as it was safe, clean and well maintained despite the soaking it endured from months of rain. The sequencing and coordination of trades on site were seamless. Productivity on-site was therefore constant and hence the house was delivered on time, swiftly followed by the landscaping and pool. In terms of service, Glenn has, to this day, 12 months post-handover, never failed to bend over backwards to ensure any matters that needed attention were dealt with promptly. In terms of administrative prowess, Glenn presented the monthly paperwork consistently within the first 2 weeks of the month without fail. The detail of progress claims was flawless. We didn’t have any progress claim issues at all. 

I cannot finish a reference for GSTRUCT without mentioning Rhett Barber, Glenn’s site foreman. Rhett was exceptional throughout the project and complemented Glenn’s approach to firm but fair treatment of trades, and unwavering service to the client.
