Aged care accommodation has changed significantly over the years and continues to evolve. Today facilities are designed to accommodate a mix of independent living, low care / high care, dementia and hospital care. 

Developments often include a mix of villas & townhouses, apartments, service apartments and care facilities. Buildings can vary from single to multi level buildings. As the buildings become more sophisticated in the way they service their residences, the design challenges become more complex requiring specialist knowledge.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNED HOUSES

HFC Group has over 25 years of experience in the design and documentation of some of New Zealand's most elegant residences.

High-end architectural houses require specialist engineering knowledge to ensure that items such as large spans, deep boundary excavations, large cantilevers, and shallow allowable structural depths are all accommodated as efficiently as possible. We maintain a close working relationship with architects to ensure that complex architectural requirements are met so structural integrity is never compromised.

MULTI-UNIT & MEDIUM DENSITY RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENTS

The engineering requirements for multi-unit & medium density developments is often more complicated than a single house build.

As industry leading experts in the design & development of economic residential foundation systems, HFC has drawn on their knowledge and applied it to provide robust, cost-effective solutions for medium density developments.

Advances in the use of engineered timber and mid floor systems where appropriate can help reduce cost by eliminating the number of structural steel members required. The key to a successful medium density development is achieving an efficient structural layout.

Careful consideration also needs to be given to site access, retaining wall requirements, connection to existing services, piling & bridging of public drainage lines, and fire separation.

RESIDENTIAL FOUNDATION SOLUTIONS

HFC has specialised in the design of residential floor foundations for over 20 years and was responsible for developing the Allied Superslab, a popular, economical and stiff concrete raft floor system.

More recently HFC has developed raft floor solutions for the Christchurch region suitable for use on TC1, TC2 and TC3 sites. Designs are all carried out specifically for the house type, foundation loads and geotechnical conditions on the site. All foundation designs are provided with a PS1: Design Producer Statement suitable for building consent. Designs are typically completed within 5 - 10 working days.

The team at HFC also carries out site inspections during construction and a PS4: Construction Review Producer Statement suitable for obtaining the code of compliance on completion of the project.

Public buildings like swimming pools have many challenges and very specific design requirements. We have experience through designing many of New Zealand's largest swimming pool complexes, and we know how to meet all conditions. INDUSTRIAL BUILDING DEVELOPMENT

We've designed hundreds of commercial buildings and industrial plants throughout New Zealand. Including, but not limited to, large-scale storage facilities, industrial parks with offices and warehousing, and concrete plants.

We offer a wealth of specialist structural knowledge and experience with cold rolled portal frame design and construction, as well as conventional hot rolled or fabricated steel sections. On top of this, we collaborate with specialist industrial construction companies, who produce the most economical buildings in the business.

Producing architectural details for industrial buildings and carrying out designs on a regular basis has given us extensive experience, enabling us to produce structures tailored to specific needs quickly and easily.
