ITI NZ, formerly known as ITI Timspec, began as Timspec, a specialist timber wholesaler committed to providing quality timber products with reliable service, value, visuals and versatility.

In March 2019, Timspec Ltd was acquired by ITI NZ Ltd, becoming ITI Timspec, before later rebranding to ITI NZ Ltd.

As part of the wider ITI Group, ITI NZ continues to grow its product range and service offering across New Zealand. The acquisitions of Rosenfeld Kidson and Hermpac have further strengthened the business by adding respected industry knowledge, trusted timber brands and a wider range of premium timber solutions.

These acquisitions have also helped expand our offering across cladding, cedar products, flashings, external corners and related timber accessories, allowing us to support architects, builders and merchants with a more complete solution.

ITI NZ sources timber from trusted mills and suppliers around the world and works hard to provide quality products, reliable service and strong relationships across the building industry.

Our Company

Today we import, export, and wholesale a huge range of timber to builders, joiners, home owners, floor layers, landscape builders and furniture manufacturers.

We pride ourselves on being very environmentally responsible and strive to source the most sustainable timber options available.

Timber stocked include species from North America, South America, Europe, Africa, South East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand’s exotic as well as indigenous species.

As an environmentally conscious team, ITI continues to push the boundaries to source and supply socially and environmentally sustainable products to the NZ market and is both FSC® and PEFC certified (PEFC/21-31-199).

ITI has implemented and is committed to maintaining a chain of custody management system that meets the requirements of the FSC and PEFC standards applicable to its scope of certification.

We will continue to grow and innovate in our supply, with a mission to provide the Australian construction industry with the best timber and building products available for any job.

Our History

1987 – ITI Begins in Australia

Established in Five Dock, NSW, ITI (then known as Independent Timber Importers) set out to redefine timber distribution in Australia. With a focus on quality, service, and innovation, ITI invested in large-scale distribution centres, product development, and service models that set new standards in the industry.

2002 – Becoming ITI

To reflect its innovative spirit, Independent Timber Importers rebranded to simply ITI in 2002, launching the “Innovative Timber Ideas” identity. This captured the company’s commitment to pushing boundaries in product development, sustainability, and service.

2010s – Growth Across Australia

Over time, ITI expanded to include 9 distribution sites across Australia, over 130,000m² of undercover storage, and a remanufacturing and treating facility in Chile, alongside operations in Indonesia. Its reputation for quality and service excellence earned ITI numerous industry awards.

2019 – Expansion into New Zealand

In 2019, ITI Group Australia expanded into New Zealand with the acquisition of Timspec Timber Specialists. The company became ITI Timspec, combining trusted local expertise with the global strength of the wider ITI Group.

From this point, ITI NZ began operating across three sites: Auckland, Carterton and Christchurch, enabling us to serve customers nationwide with greater reach and efficiency.

2022 – Auckland Showroom Opens

In 2022, ITI NZ opened its Auckland Showroom, built using its own timber products. The showroom reflects ITI’s commitment to design and sustainability, while serving as a hub for architects, designers, and builders through events, CPD sessions, and product showcases.

2023 – Rebrand to ITI NZ

The following year, the company rebranded as ITI NZ Ltd, signalling a bold new chapter and a renewed commitment to supplying premium, sustainable timber solutions nationwide.

2025 – Rosenfeld Kidson Joins ITI

In 2025, ITI Group acquired Rosenfeld Kidson, a company carrying the Liggins family legacy of 94 years in the New Zealand timber industry. This acquisition not only honours their heritage but also strengthens ITI NZ with specialist skills and deeper expertise to shape the future of timber in New Zealand.

2026 – Hermpac Joins ITI

In 2026, ITI NZ agreed to acquire Herman Pacific Ltd, widely known as Hermpac, one of New Zealand’s largest and most respected specialist timber distributors. Founded as a family owned business by Graeme Carter, Hermpac built its reputation through deep product knowledge, trusted relationships, quality sourcing and strong expertise in premium appearance and specialty timber, particularly cedar cladding.

The acquisition further strengthens ITI NZ’s position in the New Zealand timber market, adding another respected heritage brand, specialist knowledge and a strong customer base to the wider ITI Group.

Today and Tomorrow

From its origins in Australia to its growth in New Zealand, ITI’s story is one of innovation, expansion, and service excellence. Today, ITI NZ continues to support architects, builders, and merchants with trusted timber solutions backed by a proud history and a forward-looking vision.
