We engaged Justin Humphrey Architects to design our home on the Gold Coast. From the start, they truly listened. Not just to our vision and ideas, but to how we live, our routines, and how we enjoy our space. That personal approach set the tone for everything that followed.

They challenged and enriched our brief, incorporating strategies to maximise natural light and breezes that make the home both beautiful and functional. We love entertaining in our north-facing indoor/outdoor living areas, with views to the Surfers Paradise skyline. The large openings along the side of the home create a seamless connection to the beautifully landscaped gardens.

They managed the complexity of the build with professionalism and clear communication, working seamlessly with consultants and trades. Since we moved in, the team has continued to be incredibly supportive, helping us maintain and preserve the quality of our home. We really valued the collaborative relationship and wouldn’t hesitate to work with the JHA team again.

Our hope when we started this project was to expand the home so it was big enough for our growing family but to ensure that it felt like it had always been there, like it belonged. We loved the little, original beach shack and the land and wanted to retain the character but we needed something bigger that would be resilient to potential flooding. Justin and the team were very intuitive and had a deep appreciation of what was most important to us. We were continuously delighted with the designs and ideas they brought to table and they always reflected the things that mattered most to us and aligned to our goals. Justin and the team really got to know and understand us and were open, flexible and collaborative every step of the way, especially when the devastating floods in 2022 changed so much for us. Our home is such a special place to live in and it's so much better than what we could have imagined. It's full of warmth and character it feels like it belongs in our quiet little street across from the water hole in Fingal Head. There are so many elements and features of the house that bring us so much joy, but our favourite part of the day is morning coffee in the sun on the stairs of the back deck in the with our little girl. The house has so much respect for the location and original beach shack and has so brilliantly accommodated our goals of creating an open and inviting family home with a strong connection to the natural surroundings.

Justin and his team designed and oversaw our renovation of a pre-war character home at Coorparoo in Brisbane. He was a dream to work with. He nailed our vibe from the get-go. We loved his first draft of plans. He made decision-making simple. He came to us with well-thought through solutions to any problems that arose. You couldn’t find a nicer guy to work with. We’d use him again in a heart beat.
